Field_Notes - The Heavens - AIR group
Field_Notes is an art&science field laboratory at the Kilpisjärvi Biological Station in Lapland/Finland organized by The Finnish Bioart Society. Five groups work for one week in the sub-Arctic Lapland to develop, test and evaluate specific interdisciplinary approaches in relation to the annual theme. In 2019, responding to the notion of the Heavens, the AIR group co-hosted by Hanna Husberg and Agata Marzecova worked with the proposition that ‘Knowing the atmosphere’ is contingent on techno-scientific apparatus, epistemologies, and infrastructures of the “military-industrial-business complex” that cannot be thought of as separate from the histories and politics of capitalism and scientific thought. Through sharing, co-learning, and living together, the AIR group inquired into the political and aesthetic practices that allow for apprehending and sensing the atmosphere.
